Is a SABER Certificate Required for Aluminium Products?
Yes. Aluminium extrusions and profiles, sheets, coils and other non-ferrous metal products (including copper and brass) used in construction and fabrication are treated as regulated products on the SABER platform. A Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC) is required before each shipment can obtain a Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC) and clear Saudi customs.
As with other metal products, conformity is driven by material traceability. The alloy grade, temper, mechanical properties and — for architectural products — the surface coating must be documented and verifiable back to the mill. The Mill Test Certificate (MTC) is central to the application.
Applicable Technical Regulations
Aluminium and non-ferrous products are certified through SABER registration, and the SASO requirements that apply depend on the product form and application. The exact regulation and standards are confirmed at assessment from the product type and HS code.
- Technical Regulation for Building Materials — where the product is used in construction (facades, windows, doors, cladding)
- Alloy and temper standards — for example EN 573 (chemical composition) and EN 755 / EN 12020 (extruded profiles)
- Surface-coating requirements — anodising thickness or powder-coating (for example Qualicoat-type) durability for architectural profiles
- Applicable standards for copper, brass and other non-ferrous products where relevant
- Mill Test Certificate and material traceability documentation
Testing Requirements
- Chemical composition (alloy verification)
- Mechanical properties — tensile strength, yield and elongation
- Dimensional and tolerance checks on profiles and sections
- Coating thickness and adhesion (anodising / powder coating) for architectural products
- Corrosion resistance where required
Existing mill test certificates and reports from an accredited laboratory may be accepted if they cover the exact alloy and product and are within validity. We assess existing reports before arranging new product testing, so you only test what is genuinely missing.
SABER Certificate Requirements for Aluminium Products
A typical aluminium application uses the set below; our full documents required guide explains each item in more detail.
- Commercial invoice and packing list
- Mill Test Certificate (MTC) showing alloy, temper and mechanical properties
- Technical datasheet and profile drawings with dimensions
- Coating specification for architectural profiles
- HS code
- Test reports from an accredited laboratory where required
- Saudi importer registration details
How We Help
- Confirm classification and applicable regulation
We identify the product form, HS code and the exact alloy and coating standards that apply.
- Review mill certificates and test reports
We check whether your MTC and reports match the supplied product and identify any gaps.
- Coordinate any required testing
We arrange composition, mechanical or coating testing where the documentation is incomplete.
- Obtain the PCoC and process each SCoC
We coordinate the product certificate and process the shipment certificate for each consignment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do aluminium profiles need a SABER certificate?
Yes. Aluminium extrusions, profiles, sheets and other non-ferrous metal products used in construction are regulated. A PCoC must be registered and a per-shipment SCoC obtained before the goods can clear Saudi customs.
Is a Mill Test Certificate enough on its own?
The MTC is essential and forms the backbone of the application, but the alloy, temper and — for architectural products — coating still need to be verifiable and, where required, supported by accredited test reports. We confirm exactly what is needed at assessment.
Does the coating on architectural profiles get checked?
Yes. For anodised or powder-coated architectural profiles, coating thickness and adhesion are part of the assessment. The declared coating specification must match the supplied product.
How much does SABER aluminium certification cost and how long does it take?
Cost and timeline depend mainly on whether valid mill certificates and test reports already exist. When acceptable accredited documentation is available, a PCoC can typically be arranged within a few working days; if fresh testing is needed, the laboratory turnaround is the main variable. See our SABER certificate cost guide, or send your product specification for a specific quote at no cost.
How long is the PCoC valid, and do I need a new SCoC for every shipment?
A Product Certificate of Conformity is typically valid for one year, so a single PCoC can cover multiple shipments of the same product during that period. An SCoC, however, is issued per consignment — every individual shipment needs its own Shipment Certificate before it can clear Saudi customs.
Which products and HS codes does this cover?
The same SABER route applies across aluminium and articles thereof (HS chapter 76), copper (chapter 74) and other non-ferrous metals. The precise HS code affects how the product is registered, so we confirm the correct classification and SASO requirements for your exact product during assessment.
